I am asking here as to make it easier for guests also to input their ideas. How big of a tech tree is too big for you all? I am being quite serious as doing 250 years in a game I believe can make a huge tech tree. Also, what would you all like to see in it(social, economical, products, units, etc)? How deep is too deep for each area?
Just looking for suggestions and comments as I am working exclusively on the tech tree this week and next week only on the Forum RP to get it started soon.
Thank you, Drew

Hey Drew, a bit out of it at the moment, so take any of my thoughts with several kilos of salt, but I think the key to the tech tree is useability and making sure it works well with the various gameplay elements you've got in place. So, for example, for Civ, I find that tech tree large enough, and found beyond earth's a tiny bit beyond what I was comfortable with, but that was partly because both are fairly unfocussed, so you have to think about them all at once. Hearts of Iron 3, on the other hand, has far more techs but its also far more focussed, so I found it easier than a Civ/Beyond Earth tech tree. HoI3's tech tree had issues (far too fiddly), but it was fairly easy to cope with the size of it once you knew how everything was categorised.
