Why dont we help him with getting ideas for research materials to look at for the games he is creating??? Starting with Paleolithic Era and ending in the present? I have seen plenty of books, such as iran in auquity; history of food; rise of britian; and more.
Anyone else think its a worthwhile cause to help a developer just with book names, not the research??? I would say I only want to give the names because I am not a regular on this forum. I mostly visit the History forums. So its refreshing to me to see a developer wanting to make a game about a very neglected section of history/prehistory.

Dude. Seriously. There's a thread named "MS Paint or GIMP". Paint?! WTF. No graphics knowledge. Poor programming skills. He doesnt need help for research. He needs to start from scratch and study-study-study.
I dont have a clue of what I am talking about and thus having my post edited to reflect that. I am whining about the attention this person is trying to give to the Eras in which he is working, but didnt realize the thread was about suggestions for not just books on research but as read by the forum creator as a suggestion of all kinds of books. I also have no idea why the "MS Paint vs Gimp" thread was started nor do I quite understand the personal struggles of the forum creator.
I am assuming alot of things about the creator and thus I dont want to even take the time to help him do a better job. I want to whine and complain about the job he is doing and also talk about his "issues" of which I have no real clue about. I want to make myself sound better because It seems this person has no time to really do "study-study-study" but has the time to do the research necessary to make a decent game. I believe due to his inexperience and what he has released he will not be able to do anything worth while even though he has stated he will be working on smaller projects before the series.
I want to assume that he has no idea what he is doing and where he wants to go and thus needs to start from "scratch." Without knowing how many times he actually has done that very thing, or has taken the time to go from the basics of what he is trying to accomplish and start from the basis and go farther. I have all the knowledge of every step he has made because I know so much about him and what he has done.
Now that I have corrected this post to reflect the attitude and also the misinformation the individual is showing to the world. I have to say this, Anyone that assumes so much yet knows so little needs to rethink posting on this forum. As He/She did break one of the rules by disrespecting me. I have corrected the misconceptions and the mistakes of this individual and expect a rebuttal.
I also want to state, I do know some about graphics just not alot... That is why the thread so mentioned is there, it was to help me with what I do not know about it. IE which allowed for layering and which didnt... Which files where created and/or supported... etc. Also I do want to state I will be getting better graphic software and also assistance from a person that has a degree in computer animation/CGI/graphic design.
Before I stop there, I would like to state I may have to relearn C++ but the person stating all this has no clue about the year or so of programming I did as a kid, simple programs in binary. I also want to state that this individual has no clue the amount of projects I have planned nor have started upon already. Thus saying I have poor programming skills at this time is assuming I am not working behind the scenes on things nor that I am taking time to self teach myself once again.
Thank you for your time, Drew Forum Creator
Edit reason: misinformation corrected and replaced with facts. Mistakes in comments without knowledge there of the reasons for a thread nor knowledge of myself.

Lol what I am talking about is helping him study-study-study just not in an assholish way like your comment. Maybe he doesn't have money for graphic software... I bet you haven't thought of that.
Honestly it is people like you that expect the world to be the way you want it to be that cause great games to fail or never be published. Like a child wanting a candy store without knowing the logistics, budgeting, time, etc of owning that candy store. Pretty much a Lil spoiled brat that expects a person to be at your expected level of expertise, have enough money to do what you see is needed, in for the money a LA EA, and know more about what you think he needs to know than actually things that are useful to his project.
Excuse me if I am as so bold to ask, but have you any idea the differences in homo floras vs homo erectus or neathandrathals? Better question do you know this developer yourself??? Spent any the with him outside of this forum or others? How about being able to account for his income in exact amounts vs his bills? If you can not do any of those things you are judging and disrespecting him and showing you really don't give a damn unless he fits your criteria of independent video game developer.
With that said I wouldn't be surprised if you get banned for your stupidity and never allowed back on this forum, no matter your avenue to talk to him. He though may not be as harsh but it seems from your own words, he doesn't fit your criteria and thus isn't worth your time...
Excuse me if I may be so bold as to ask do you really know his programming skills or have tried whatever game he mentioned on reddit? If don't have true knowledge of what he is making behind scenes, you have no basis for that attack either. Sad to say unless you see what he's working on besides what he informs others on you have no clue of his skills or lack there of. Also I would wager he has a few surprises for all of us... Just does not want to reveal them. Is that a bad thing he has his privacy and works alone?
I myself am waiting to see what's coming next and if he did release a simple not very complex game, what is he making where no one sees? What type of game/s are not even mentioned? What project does he have in the works/planning stages? What contracts or contractors does he have in mind? The list goes on and on...
I though am sure you mister Boolean have not thought of those things nor care to. I would be surprised if you even too time to know him outside of your bias and judgmental views. I can say there probably are people that have and are rewarded for such behavior by knowing things not mentioned anywhere else.
Do you know his secrets?

Yeah, sure, programming skill = binary when u was a kid. I work with people that WORKS, EVERYDAY with C++, C#, Java etc since YEARS and YEARS and YEARS and still they say "woah, I'm a noob".
U r talking about Mankind since months but we have not seen nothing yet. 6 years to 2020. Do u think to become a PRO graphic designer and a PRO programmer in 6 years? If this is the rhythm of learning, good luck.
You want to do by your own a game that needs a TEAM of PROFESSIONAL graphic designers and programmers. And u don't know almost nothin' about graphics and programming.
So if u want to do this, quit ur research job: ya ya, it's easy and so you may think "Hey, I'm designing my game!". No. U r wasting your time. Quit wasting time on research, quit your real job if u have one and start to study EVERYDAY for 8-10 HOURS a day and MAYBE in 2-3 years u'll have the skills to design and create a good game. Not a complexity monster like ur project but somethin' good.
U dont need yes-men but persons like me that kick u in the ass to show u how the things stand.
If I need people like you then why dont you join the forum instead of using a fake name??? I agree that yes I am still a noob because there is always something new to learn. I rebuttaled your comments once before by stating the truth. Unless I talk to you everyday like it seems now I am you know nothing about what I am doing or have planned. I havent been talking in the last few months about mankinds beginning due to the engine not being built, nice inputting that I had... I have stated those updates will wait until the engine is created.
How do you now I am not studying 12-16 hrs a day??? Honestly I dont see my webcam light on, so how can you see what I am and am not doing? I would like to know, How do you believe you know me so well, when you dont know the first thing about what I do and dont do? You definally are not in my pocket(nope dont see a wee lil man there), are you crawled up my pants(nope), are you on webcam with me as I do my work(nope), hmmmmm do you live next door to me(even so you wouldnt know if I was studying or not(walls wouldnt allow sound through and its not like you can see my work at anytime due to blinds being closed.) So how do you believe you know so much about my habits?
I would highly suggest you stop this crusade and realize you dont know crap about me. 1. You dont see my concept documents or my work 2. You are not close to me an any way that I can for see you being able to see my work as I am doing it(only one that does is my fiance and I am sure your not her) 3. I may not know everything about coding and the new C++11 or C++10 but I do know enough to have a basis for games that I will eventually create and have the "architecture" of said games already forming in my head. 4. you seem to want to use a guest nickname because A your afraid of true rebuttal, B you really are assuming things and have no real interest in the projects, C are wanting to use the guest name due to you knowing what you are doing is wrong... What I mean by that is the way you are going about your means of communication and not coming to me directly as someone that is not a yes man would do... To put it politely I know my people that are on this forum to just be there vs those that are actually pushing me.
How do you not know I am pushing myself to the end of the beginning faster than anyone else can? I would highly suggest you realize your fake attitude does nothing here and is not warranted. You either have the say as a Mod, as you seem to think you are... or as a guest and as a guest I have warned you already to watch your attitude and the conveyance of what your saying. I will not do so again. You are acting like a know it all about things you have no clue about.
So tell me in the past day, how many hours have I put into these projects in total? What project names am I currently juggling in my head? Where did I get the latest inspiration for the latest and greatest thing? If you can answer those to the T and dot of the I, then I will have more basis into what you are thinking... otherwise you are just talking nonsense and have no clue about a darn thing.
Edited by forum creator for rebuttal and correction of details that are relevant to this point and seeking to show the truth....

Well, reading through the crossed off comments, the first thing I have to say is if you wish to comment any more, I would highly recommend that you learn how to spell and use more correct grammar. Also, I believe that using bigger words (that you can use correctly) is vital to your success in your plight to call Druebey a noob. Secondly, I will give you my utmost assurance, I am not a "yes-man". In fact, I enjoy arguing with Druebey almost as much, if not more than, I like talking to him normally, so I am definitely not a "yes-man". Third, I honestly believe that your comment about how you work with C++, etc is a large exaggeration if not a complete fallacy. I do believe, like in all comments, that there is a speck or more that I can agree with, for example, that the MS Paint category is a tad redundant. However, in defending Paint, you could be surprised the artworks that you can create in it. Finally, yes, Druebey is not the most experienced by far, however, he is doing this as a personal goal to try and live up to, and I guarantee you that neither him nor I will have any trouble at all steam-rolling anybody who crosses his path with pathetic and redundant comments or rants such as this one.
Thank you for your time.

I'm from Indonesia. Sorry for my english.
Censorship it's the worst thing u can do on the web, my friend. U don't have business-like approach neither. That's why, after half a year, u have only 30 likes on FB and maybe 3 users on this forum. Think about it.

well shows how much you really do pay attention doesnt it??? He has 21 people registered on this forum... and how many other people on other locations. So with that, once again, do you know everything there is to know about him? I am shocked you still want to go on about this and say he is censoring your comments when really all he is doing is fixing inaccuracies in your comments.
Now as for his business plans/actions. that is for him to talk about. As far as I can see. he is being more transparent than any AAA game studio or indie developer I know. Oh btw I would ask you to take a look at Arsenal of Democracy or Darkest Hour a Hearts of Iron game, Those individuals did not have any experience with making a game yet were versed well in the language used. Also For the Glory be another good game for you to look at, it did flop but that is more or less people finding the series it was based on more appealing...
If you are in Indonesia, How can you know anything about this developer??? Like what he does or doesnt do, etc? Also can you access the concept page statistics like he can, what about the pages here??? whats the normal amount here(daily avg of guests/users online)? You claim to know so much and yet you state the misinformation you do...
Oh, btw I looked at the steam concept page, its been over two years, way to go on that assumption. How about you do some research before you open your mouth before you look like an ass and spread misinformation. People like you are the reason I bet that he doesnt have many other followers... All the lies and misinformation you spread. I would be shocked if he hasnt heard,"so and so told me this... is it true?" Well how about this, from now on, you do your homework IE talk to this developer before you open your mouth and start spitting out what you think is this or that issue when you dont know the first things about what he is and isnt doing. You have made yourself look more and more like a moron than anything.

Yeah, 21 people registered: how many of these write somethin'? Two? Three?
Ok, I don't know nothin'. When I'll see somethin', let's say, a crowdfunding campaign like this
Using a team effort to discount my own, searing to give money based on conditional approaches is called working for said money, Etc. I do not work for anyone at this time, I am doing all this on my own money and time. I do not have a team assisting with the development but have a testing team already in place. They will have NDAs to sign but other than that they will be able to publish some things from the works. IE After action Reports and bug reports. They will also be able to assist with the development when testing sections of the development is there, to make the game more balanced and fun. Other than that it is just myself at this time and nothing like plants...
Plants to my projects is trying to compare apples to oranges, They both have vit c and are fruits but have totally different contexts, textures, tastes, chemical break downs, acids, sugars, etc. So would you compare apples to oranges when trying to decide which to spend money on??? Well yes but in what way, taste, color, flavor, texture, scent, uses, etc... Not the fact they are both fruits and have Acidic acid(vit C).
So my question is simple, why compare my projects to projects that are RPG, GS, etc? Sadly that is what I am seeing alot of and thus am putting this out there, My games maybe 4x or other... But will be totally different than that done before. The type of quality I expect when I release will be far greater than what has been seen before. Version 1.0 will be a very stable build and any versions after that will be more so. Most of the bugs will be out of the games before they are published, and balancing will be paid close eye to. I am one person and I know that asks alot of myself, but I want to make sure the games are of quality before they are released, that is why I have set out to have at least 5 different testing schedules. Right now I am in the first one, that is the pre alpha stage build. It is where I research, modify, figure out, add, subtract, etc way before I get to the alpha stages for any game.
I will do this for each game I do, I constantly change/modify the concept and components, come up with or take away ideas, etc. So yes, I dont need yes men. I DO NEED PEOPLE that ARE WILLING TO TALK TO ME, NOT AT ME. There is a huge difference. I currently have a what I have labeled as "true tester" that is there with me, I hash things out with them and go from there. I do know I need people like that, but it is a very hard process to get there, harder than being a alpha or etc tester... I have to trust you first at this time, without an NDA to not talk about anything. I will tell you, If you break that trust and I find out, you will be taken off that list and put on the last testing cycles list until you can prove your trust worthy again.
Little more information for all and yourself boolean.

well hmmm, nice comparing apples to oranges... That is a totally differnt genre and totally different system than what he is making. Wow you really know your things when: A. Plants is made with Orgre which is a premade game engine where you pretty much just input data and go from there. B. It is a roleplaying game in as much as you play a single or collective with missions and first person view. C. There are preset "masters". D. It allows you to play in the middle of the earth, not just in the different climates. E. its made with blocks that may or maynot allow for true free roaming. (instead of whatever he has planned)
So kindly tell me where the similarities begin other than it is supposed to be about the world first? I have to state that this game is the least likely to be compared to his works. If you are looking to donate that much and put limits on the donation, it means you are wanting him to work for your desires, not work like he has been(on his own, and on his own dime, With his own criteria in mind.). It seems to me that you really have no other purpose here than to troll and talk about how he knows nothing about developing a game, when he is making the efforts to not make same mistakes as others.
I am shocked to see you continue this after you have shown you have no clue about what he is doing or isnt doing. Also, do you know how many of the registered members contact him daily on other outlets? How many does he talk to? So your assumption that they all use this forum only is foolish and a folly of yours. He does have many other avenues to communicate than just this single forum. Once again, you show how little you really know.
I would wager that he talks to at least four to five people a day that are not registered on the forums, but are wanting to help with the projects and/or support him. I would also wager that IF you took the time to know this developer, you may get your world shock and realize you have been more than disrespectful to just the developer, but to the others behind the scenes. You seem to want to dictate the progress of this set of projects, but are you paying him directly? Have you any say in the production/development/sales of these projects? Do you even know other than what he seems to have released to show that you know more about the projects than the average person?
If you can not Answer those questions, YOU are a fool and really need to RETHINK your stance. You state you want to DONATE 2000 USD to his project/s but which one do you want to donate that much to? You CITE ANOTHER DEVELOPMENT "TEAM" as PROOF YOU KNOW SOMETHING??? How about your own work? How about showing that programming skills you have off? I am sorry, but I dont see where a "team" is comparitive to one developer doing it all. Does anyone else? How about how many of you all can really state, other than the developer himself, What is really being worked on at this time and the amount of time on it per a day?

Boolean, I have to state, I dont trust a word you say right now. I dont know you from adam, you are not one of my friends, I dont talk to you outside of this forum, the list goes on... If I knew you better as a person, your swear to do what you already seem to know is right, as you would have not mentioned it already... Means little to nothing to me at this time. You cant show a project on kickstarter that has so many conflicts with what you are stating and then swear youll give me money when I provide the same type of work. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN BUCKO, I am not developing a game in the same genre nor am I building a game with a premade engine. So that is two strikes, Shall I show the others? Are you smart enough, by your own admission to knowing to program, to know the highly and deeply complex natures of coding your own game engine and also making it where it doesnt just fail to work with one game? I honestly battle that everyday, going through the different stages of relearning C++ and coding plus research. I dont want a detail to be incorrect and others come to me stating that, such as the fact of bone tools being around since 500,000 bc but still being utilized today. Cork properties allowed it to be used to store materials in the prehistoric eras and today it is utilized for many other uses including the original use. How about knowledge that the type of pine tree found in the carribean was used to make conoes and the resin allowed the boats to get cracks without needing repairs, and the Tar of said pine trees was used as antibotics.
Now those are just examples of many things I have found out through research and will have to put into the game. Can you honestly say that plants is as complex of a system as what I will be making??? I am highly doubtful you can. Now either put up or shut up as the saying goes here in the USA. Either you stop thinking you know so much about me, or show you do. Either way, I highly doubt you can prove you do. Now with all that said and done, you swear to donate money, if you put a conditional on it, it is not a donation. It is more working for an amount. I dont think I work for you... Unless I am mistaken, I am not doing this at anyone else's payments. I am not being payed by a user or group of users to do this endeavor. So I kindly ask you to refrain from making donations conditional on:
A. assumptions that my projects will be similar to others seen before B. Work you deem appropiate for donations C. comparisions to projects that have nothing to do with my own D. citing over one persons work as being as good as one person working on it.
List goes one but those are the main points. You swear to do what you already want to do, but make it conditional makes it negotiable. In other words, you are making yourself look even more like an asshole. Now what I mean by that is this, you are putting conditions on a set of projects that are no way shape or form able to be to your exceptions. They may surpass your own expectations or be below as it is one person doing the work. Now with that said, I will state that I am setting the bar high for myself already, and you want me to compete with lets see here, a 3D artiest, etc? You are barking up the wrong tree. Find a game that one person has completed and completed well, I am looking at you banished as an example of a false game. Now with that said, when you find one, that actually is close to my said projects, provide the link. Otherwise you are just talking nonsense about teams vs individual work and thus negate your own debates.
On a side note here, striking out and correcting misinformation/correcting information is not censoring anything. It is showing the truth when you seem to have preconceived notions of falsehoods. That my dear user is called a rebuttal of facts.
Thank you for your time, Drew Forum creator
